There is something about this time of the year that turns my hands into a cracked, dry mess! I seem to be forever applying hand cream on a mission to soothe my skin but when you are at home with a toddler and end up washing up and baby-wiping umpteen times a day, it can feel like a fruitless task.
Thankfully I have found some gems that are really helping keep my hands feel smooth and I just wanted to share them with you incase you too are suffering from the Winter skin blues on your hands and feel like you need to rev up your hand cream collection.
Firstly there is the Shea Butter Hand Cream from L’Occitane which I have squeezed dry and repurchased several times. This particular one has had a little makeover thanks to a collaboration with Rifle Paper Co. which sees the tube transformed with hand-painted designs to bering to life the natural beauty of Provence. This gorgeous limited edition collection is available from 18th January 2018. This hand cream is enriched with Shea Butter, honey and coconut oil and is super creamy to apply. It has a delicate scent and quickly soaks in so doesn’t linger and feel greasy, perfect for mums-on-the-go!
Next up is an absolute gem and beauty staple from Elizabeth Arden’s notable Eight Hour range. Their Eight Hour Skin Protectant is one of those multi-purpose product that can be used on a multitude of skin ailments or irritations. For me, it is my saviour for dry lips and really cracked hands – especially those areas between the knuckles that always seem to pop up the moment the winter wind starts to whirl. This cream is a little heavier and slightly greasy to begin with so this skin saviour sits in my bedside drawer and I let it work its magic overnight. Any dryness or chapped skin has disappeared in the morning!
Finally there is a trio of new hand creams from Jo Malone that I have only recently started slathering on, but I already feel impressed with their skin-soothing power. Jo Malone have just launched this luxurious collection containing three lightweight hand creams infused with a selection of Jo Malone’s most-loved scents; Lime Basil & Mandarin, Peony & Blush Suede and English Pear & Freesia. The miniature tubes have also been adorned with London-inspired designs, hand-illustrated by British artist Helen Beard. The consistency is lightweight, quickly absorbed and is enriched with apricot kernel oil which nourishes and protects. They are perfect handbag-sized and smell amazing – so if you enjoy these particular JM scents then you can get an extra whiff throughout the day every time you pop your hand cream on!
Do let me know what hand creams are always within a hands reach for you during Winter?
