32 Week Pregnancy Update With Baby Number Two

I think the last time I managed to write a bump update I was around 18 weeks pregnant so a long, long time ago. Life has been all consuming but whilst I have been running around after Florence and keeping up with other blogging projects I am pleased to report that baby number two has been growing just fine and I am now a few days over 32 weeks pregnant. It is definitely true when they say your pregnancy goes so much quicker the second…third…fourth time around!

So currently I am housing a small person the size of a coconut. Baby weighs around 3.8 lbs and is about 16 inches long. They are starting to look and act like real babies now – they have fingernails and can now smell, swallow, kick and suck. And yes, boy can this baby kick. However gorgeous and reassuring it is to feel your baby kick and move away inside your tummy, I always find it a little odd if I’m honest especially at 2am in the morning and your ribs are being kicked and you have a hand, knee or maybe a head pushing out of your belly.

So how am I feeling? Generally really really well. Touch wood it seems like I am going to have another pretty straight-forward, easy pregnancy like I did with Florence which I feel very fortunate about. The only notable symptoms I have developed recently is a small bout of heartburn which I had around this time in my first pregnancy and the occasional braxton hicks have kicked in. Yes I am feeling a bit slower these days and I have to tell myself to stop running around everywhere and by the end of the day I am exhausted, but I am sleeping well (as much as the toddler allows!)

Any food cravings or aversions? No not really. I am still eating pretty much the same stuff as I did pre-pregnancy but just a little less. My appetite isn’t that great and I sadly never get that really hungry pang in my tummy anymore so just have to eat little and often. I find I can’t eat much later that 5pm otherwise I just feel full and uncomfortable and my heartburn is set off.

Bump is measuring nicely according to my midwife appointments, just a little under each time but nothing to be concerned with at the moment. I had a growth scan with Florence around 38 weeks pregnant as I consistently plotted a bit smaller but she came out a perfect size so I do always take the fundal height measurements with a pinch of salt. Every woman carries differently. I am definitely getting that stretching feeling now around my stomach and wonder if there is any more scope for the skin the stretch to accommodate this growing babe. Slathering on my oils and moisturisers each night and still no stretch marks in sight.

Unfortunately I have had to slow down on my exercise recently purely due to time and opportunities to head out for a run. The dark nights and a little girl who is requiring a little more attention at bedtime means it hasn’t been possible for me to keep up my evening runs like I use to. But I still feel pretty fit as I end up power walking most days for at least an hour or two with Florence and pushing a toddler on a swing really does work out your arm muscles!

Finally this weekend I plan to pack my hospital bag after a big Boots shop last week to stock up on all those essentials! I wish I had made a note of what I packed in my bag the first time around because already I am worrying I am forgetting something major.     Great to see a pregnancy post. I’m 28 weeks with my first and would love to see a hospital bag post! And any other top tips for the build up to due day. X
