Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil

When it comes to my skincare stash, you can bet your bottom dollar that you will find at least one item from Kiehl’s lurking in my drawer (who am I kidding, there are multiple drawers!) They have a couple of standout products that I feel safe using even when my skin is playing up a bit and one of those much-loved items is their renowned Midnight Recovery Concentrate. You know, that lavender-scented elixir that works wonders overnight! It has become a pioneering facial oil since its creation in 2010 and now Kiehl’s have harnessed all that lovely goodness and expertise to formulate a Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil.

I love a cleansing oil so this was very exciting news! I like the way a cleansing oil melts and breaks down all that caked on makeup and stubborn mascara yet leaves my skin still slightly dewy and glowy. I don’t mind it feeling ever so slightly oily still, especially if I know the formula is packed full with the same botanical beauties that is found in my Concentrate and after using this latest release, my skin is clean, fresh and not a scrap of mascara is left lurking! The main idea of Kiehl’s Cleansing Oil is to eliminate the need for double-cleansing. Now I love to double-cleanse but in honesty I don’t get the luxury to do this every day. Sometimes I just need a product I can quickly grab at the end of the day to get rid of all my makeup in a speedy few minutes. And this works a treat!

The oil is lightweight but efficient and really does work a treat at getting rid of everything! Its so gentle but even when I’ve clumsily rubbed it in my eyes whilst trying to scrub my mascara off, it didn’t really sting. Winner! The other beauty of this Cleansing Oil is the fact you don’t need any cotton pads or muslin cloths either. Just simply dispense 3-4 drops into your hands and massage into dry skin. Then add a bit of water and continue to massage your face to help emulsify the oil. This creates a lovely cleansing milk that is gentle on your skin. Once you feel you have melted away all your makeup the just rinse your face thoroughly and pat dry with a towel. (I dare you to go for your best white towel to really check how effective this is!)

Ok so after the first time I used this I did notice I had slight panda eyes and black smudges under them but then remember I did have on waterproof mascara. So next time I went to use this I dispensed some of the oil onto a few cotton pads and pressed them over my eyes first, prior to using the oil to cleanse my whole face. This loosened up my mascara and made it much easier to remove it efficiently first time. Other than that, it is a beautiful product to use, smells amazing, has some awesome ingredients that clean but hydrate the skin at the same time and it is soap, sulphate and mineral oil free! If you love the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate then this will be right up your street too!

I’m such a sucker for a cleansing oil and have been dying to try this one! Then again, I don’t think I’ve ever tried a Kiehls product I didn’t like…
