Benefit They’re Real! Double The Lip Lipsticks

Applying your lip liner and then your lipstick can be a bit of a faff can’t it? I mean, sometimes you want to fullness and definition that a lip liner brings but time is not on your side (this is me most mornings!), so Benefit Cosmetics have come to the rescue with their latest lip launch – the They’re Real! Double the Lip Lipstick & Liner in One…and breathe! The collection of eight shades offers a novel way to achieve a lined lip colour straight onto the lips – giving you fullness and a subtle two-toned effect with an easy stroke.

The lipsticks simply twist up to reveal a teardrop shaped end, the darker shade being at the point and the main lipstick colour filling the rest of the applicator. The tapered end makes it easy to follow the shape of your lips and ensure the neatest of finishes. The two shades have been carefully picked to complement each other and even though some may look a little scary in the bullet, once applied on the lips, the colours blend together to give a softer, more muted look. Clockwise from top left: Criminally Coral, Flame Game, Revved-Up Red, Juicy Berry Clockwise from top left: Nude Scandal, Pink Thrills, Lusty Rose, Fuchsia Fever

As you can see, there is a really nice selection of colours in this collection, from nudes, pinks, a coral and a berry-toned lipstick which suits every occasion. I love the ease of Nude Scandal and Lusty Rose for my everyday makeup look. The finish is semi-matte and feels lovely and comfortable to wear. The intensity of the lipsticks is impressive and they last well for a good few hours. The only niggle I have about these new lippies is the way you apply them. For the top lip it is easy peasy to see what you are doing and stroke the colour on with perfection but when it comes to the bottom lip, you need to flip the lipstick over so the tip of the teardrop is pointing down, but by doing this your vision is slightly compromised by the packaging. It isn’t awful but just needs a bit of clever angling in front of the mirror in order to see what you are doing. Once you’ve mastered it, you don’t think twice about it, but the first few tries did prove a little tricky. Other than that though I love these lipsticks and think the finish they offer is perfect if you enjoy the effects of a lip liner but like your multi-tasking products and fancy saving yourself a little time in the mornings!

Ooh wow, these look interesting. They look pretty but I much prefer a matte lippy. Danielle || Miss Danielle

I’ve actually been really skeptical about these lipsticks. I’m so glad you’ve included pictures with them on though because now I’m sold! The Liner end actually seems a lot more effective than I thought it would be. I love the Nude Scandal colour 🙂

I can’t say I’m a fan of the concept of these but I love the nudes, so pretty!
