Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation

When it comes to makeup I would like to think that foundation is my forte! Base products get me excited and I love sampling new foundations on the eternal mission to find that absolute must-have to give me skin like a perfectly-filtered instagram photo. I always have quite a stash on the go at the same time; the light, dewy option for a simple day time look, the higher end, higher coverage one for those ‘bad skin days’ and those faithful foundations that I can pick up and feel assured will perform time after time. Another day I think I will need to share with you my top five ten foundations of the moment…but for the time being I just want to focus on my latest base product purchase that has certainly lived up to all the hype and my own expectations.

I purchased the much-raved about Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation (£35) from Space NK a few months ago and knew it was going to be something special from the moment I got colour matched in store. This foundation smooth, creamy and quite a thick consistency but doesn’t feel heavy or ‘mask like’ on the skin. It blends in beautifully, either with your fingers or a buffing brush, and instantly makes any imperfections, red marks, fine lines or uneven squinting instantly disappear. It is highly pigmented so you only need a little bit to cover your whole complexion and will give you a medium to full coverage look whilst still feeling fresh on the skin. As the name would suggest the formula is wonderfully silky and practically melts into your skin as you start to apply it. It is a great foundation to lightly apply and wear everyday with the assurance it will last from morning to night or to keep it aside as a special foundation for fancy nights out to give you the most flawless base. The finish is soft and satin-like with a natural effect – it isn’t dewy or even that luminous but gives you a very delicate glow which sets it apart from other high-coverage foundations that can seem a bit heavy, cakey or flat on your face. The finish is matte enough that you hardly need any powder on top to set it – in fact I either leave my makeup bare and un-powdered or just give it a light dusting along my t-zone.

Laura Mercier’s Silk Creme is seriously a beautiful foundation and has lived up to all my hopes and dreams! If you are after a new base product then I would definitely recommend giving this a whirl.

I really love how it looks! I'm on the hunt for a natural looking foundation (more like a tinted moisturizer) and I've read a lot of reviews talking about Laura Mercier products. It's a bit pricy for me, but I think it's worth it. I was surprised this is a full-coverage foundation because it looks natural on you! Might give it a go 🙂

    Lovely review!

I've been lusting over this foundation for a while now, so many bloggers seem to love it. It sounds like something I'd love to wear too. Maybe when I have a little more money I'll pick this up 🙂

The Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation seems to be having a surge in popularity recently. I've never tried a foundation from this brand but do love my Laura Mercier minerals. I am on the hunt for a new winter foundation. I might try to pick up a sample.

It looks lovely on you, I just couldn't get on with it, it separated and looked blotchy and turned me into a easy mess after 2 hours 🙁

This has been on my wish list for a while, and it looks so flawless on you! As much as I like natural makeup days I love having a full coverage base like this in my makeup stash!

Apparently this is being discontinued in the next couple of months and being replaced by two similar foundations… So say Harvey Nics anyway x

Best Foundation! But unfortunately, they are not selling it at the counters anymore because it isn't oil free. So they have launched the new foundation and are then bringing silk creme back in the summer 🙁 🙁
Soo soo devastated when i went to repurchase!

Such a good review, I used to love the estee lauder double wear but I feel like it is way too thick on my skin now and looks everything but natural which for everyday is not what I am looking for. Might try and grab a sample of this xxx
