The Philips VisaPure* £150 (replacement brush heads £7.99)
available from Boots

It has been a long time coming, but there may now be something on the market to rival the cult cleansing system, the Clarisonic, which has been hogging the sonic-system limelight for years now. This month sees the release of the Philips VisaPure – an electronic skin cleansing device that massages skin to remove make up, dirt and impurities. Ten times more effective than manual cleansing, and gentle enough to use every day, it is an easy addition to any woman’s skincare routine with two different brushes to suit your skin type, normal and sensitive. The VisaPure vibrates and rotates gently to cleanse away dead skin cells; deeply cleansing and stimulating the skin leaving it looking healthy and radiant.

The VisaPure has two different speed settings, gentle cleansing or deep cleansing, and operates for a minute at a time, pausing every 20 seconds to prompt you to move onto a different skin zone. Despite the mere 60 second commitment, I have only been using the VisaPure three to four times a week and sticking to my normal skincare routine for the rest of the time. I think this device is really effective at thoroughly cleansing the skin and makes the removal of hours-old makeup at the end of the day, an effortless dream. I have been using it alongside Nude’s Purify Cleansing Wash, finished off with their ProGenius Oil and my skin is currently very happy! Skin feels soft and squeaky clean afterwards and I have noticed subtle improvements in the appearance of my skin especially around my chin and nose area.

I already own a Clarisonic so it was interesting to draw a comparison and see how this new model fared against it better-known predecessor. Aesthetically, I much prefer the sleek, modern look of the VisaPure and think it would be much more convenient to sling in your makeup bag for a night away. The brush head of the VisaPure is a little smaller than the Clarisonic which I actually prefer as I feel you can focus it more specifically on troublesome areas. Price-wise, it is almost identical to the classic, sandwiched in between the smaller-sized Mia and the multi-tasking Clarisonic Plus. But the clincher might be the price of the replacement brushes for the VisaPure which are a third of the price compared to the hefty £21 for the Clarisonic brushes. That makes the VisaPure a winner in my eyes!

Is this something that you would consider adding to your skincare routine?

This looks like a great skin care product, but I don't think I'll be adding it to my routine… I kind of stopped things that I don't really need, because my skin is suffering from it 🙁

    Great post!

I always want to try these type of things but I'm not sure I could justify the price – would have to try it first! x

I bought the No7 face brush from boots for £15 which does the job just fine.. I certainly wouldn't spend ten times the price despite how fancy it looks xx

I do really want to try this – it's a lot of money though if it ends up being one of my one-use wonders & destined for the back of my cupboards (…like my spray tanning machine!) lol
