L’Oreal Paris False Lash Telescopic mascara* £10.99

L’Oreal has launched three new eye products, a mascara, a felt-tip eyeliner and a gel eyeliner, with Cheryl Cole fronting the new campaign. The promotional images see Miss Cole flashing her lashes without any retouching or lash inserts which is highly refreshing and made me keen to try the mascara out.

I’m not usually a fan of the plastic spiky bristle type brushes but this new innovative brush from L’Oreal promises to give you that ‘false lash effect’ with just one stroke, whilst separating and leaving your lashes clump free. Oh wait, and there’s more. The new lengthening fibre formula features 1.2mm micro fibres which apparently links and binds each eyelash to build length and volume beyond the lash tip, making them appear elongated.

There was quite a few things I liked about this mascara, mainly the fact that it definitely does lengthen and separate the lashes. It wasn’t clumpy at all and was really pigmented, so gave my eyelashes a lovely rich, black coating. I actually got on very well with the brush and liked the way the individual bristles made it easy to separate and fan out my lashes. The negative with this mascara is that it made my eyelashes very ‘spiky’ looking, and as the bristles grab your lashes, they pull out any curl you may have, natural or otherwise. This made them stick out awkwardly rather than flutter prettily upwards.

I feel torn – the length and volume you achieve with this mascara is great, and I was actually asked if I was wearing false lashes whilst sporting it the other day, but I am not sure I can forego my curled, fluttery lashes for anything.
Have you tried anything from the new L’Oreal range?

I desperately need a new mascara, the one I bought the other week is shockingly bad, so may give this a go. The one thing I can't live without is mascara xx

That really has lengthened your lashes, but yeah I agree it needs curl as well. How about if you layer a curling mascara on top of it? Maybe you'll get the best of both worlds then!

these make your lashes look amazing! shame they didn't give much of a curl though. im glad they didn't shoot cheryl with any lash inserts, it always gives such a false impression of mascara!

The brush is similar to Chanel Inimitable mascara which I Love but for me, it still curls too. Your lashes still look fabulous though and great price x

Personally, I prefer the original Loreal Telescopic mascara because it doesn't make my eyelashes crunchy and mantain the natural curl of my lashes. 🙂

I really love the old L'oreal Telescopic mascara, but I had the same issue that you mentioned about lack of curl. If you can be bothered to use more than one mascara, it works brilliantly to use a volumizing mascara all over, then just use the telescopic on the ends. That way, you still get a nice curl, while also getting the length benefits. You can literally see the lashes "growing" as you apply to the ends!

Your lashes look lovely with this mascara! I've tried it the past few days and I found the consistency of it to be quite thick, did you find that too? My sister also has it and her eyelashes look great with it on and really separated but due to the thickness, I found my lashes stuck together although it wasn't clumpy xx

  31. 12th February 2012 / 9:23 pm

Wow your lashes look stunning 🙁 I have really stupidly straight ones and whatever I use they never look full and curly. This does look nice and it looks amazing on you, not sure it could help my depressed lashes haha bless em. I have the new Rimmel one and that's not too bad. Anyway you look lush ! x

  32. 12th February 2012 / 10:06 pm

Wow this looks amazing on your lashes, I'm so tempted to buy it now X
