to buy and buy again

Yesterday I had a really lovely day in London. Myself and several other bloggers braved the rain and splashed along to the Crazy Bear Club in Covent Garden for a swish luncheon with Herbal Essences to celebrate the launch of their new Smooth and Soft range. It was a great afternoon filled with cocktails (the lychee and blueberry being a particular favourite) plenty of chit chat and a seemingly never-ending supply of delicious food.

After the event I cowered under my umbrella again and headed to Oxford Circus to pay a visit to the MAC store and pick up my ye ol’ faithful mineralised skin finish natural. This product is undoubtedly my most repurchased beauty must-have of all time. As you can see, I have already amassed three empties all set to be taken ‘back to mac’. This is the only face powder I have gotten along with and I wear it every day without fail. I find it sets my foundation perfectly and leaves my skin looking finished with a natural matte look and a velvety touch. It also works really well on those days when I don’t want to wear any foundation, evening out my skin tone with a medium coverage.

I use the shade medium plus which is perfect for my nc25-nc30 skin. I usually use a kabuki brush to apply the powder, gently buffing it in to my skin to create a flawless finish. The luxurious powder is formulated into a dome, and the 10g product (£18.50) lasts me about 6-8 weeks. I don’t know if this is particularly good or not, I do seem to be forever buying a new one but this is one product I certainly do not begrudge investing in.

  3. 17th July 2011 / 1:36 pm

I use this everyday too but it seems to have lasted me a lifetime, I must have had it for about a year now and it's just got a significant dip in it! xxx

This only lasts 6 weeks? crikey thats not that long. I don't know if I could justify that much money for a product that only lasts 6 weeks

  6. 17th July 2011 / 1:44 pm

I love these posts from you 🙂
I have a love/hate relationship with my MSFN, with the right foundation it's perfect, I find that my drugstore foundations don't work well at all.
    Love your makeup!xx

  7. 17th July 2011 / 1:54 pm

  11. 17th July 2011 / 3:17 pm

  16. 17th July 2011 / 3:47 pm

I had to rebuy a few weeks ago after buying originally in February. I thought the last few weeks I went through it really quickly, using a MAC 150. May have to swap brushes as it seems to be eating it all up! xx

  17. 17th July 2011 / 3:47 pm

I love MAC's MSF's! I own quite a few of them in different shades, and they do not fail to impress me! I use them everyday, as my foundation, as I'm not a liquid foundation gal!

  18. 17th July 2011 / 3:47 pm

the texture of your skin here looks incredible, when my powder runs out (NARS loose powder seems to last forever) i will have a look at these xxxx

ps thanks for the comment on my blog whilst i was reading yours hehe! xx

  19. 17th July 2011 / 3:52 pm

This is easily my most repurchased Mac item too. I agree with everything you have said about it, I too wear mine on a daily basis, and definitely don't mind paying the (pretty large) price for the perfect powder xx

  20. 17th July 2011 / 4:32 pm

Righ decided i am buying this next time i am i mac i have resisted for 2 years now but think it is time to own it now 🙂 hehe thanks for doing this post 🙂 x

  21. 17th July 2011 / 4:48 pm

I've been using this for what seems like forever but it never seems to go down! It is quite expensive but for how long it seems to last me it kind of seems worth it xx

  22. 17th July 2011 / 5:12 pm

Oooh, may have to give this a try – your skin looks flawless! What mascara are you wearing in the bottom photo?:)x

  23. 17th July 2011 / 5:18 pm

Wow – I love the whole look! Please do a breakdown of what you're wearing 🙂 I can't seem to find an MSF shade to suit me – perhaps I'm not trying hard enough 😉 x

  24. 17th July 2011 / 6:03 pm

Thank you all so much for your comments ladies.
Apologies I didn't break down my whole makeup in the post. I am wearing Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation, MSFN (of course) Coralista blush by Benefit and The Body Shop's '01 Copper' baked eye colour duo. I have mac's false lashes (33) on which I plan to feature in a future post. xx

  25. 17th July 2011 / 6:54 pm

What skincare products do you use? I can't believe how flawless your skin is <3 xx

  26. 17th July 2011 / 8:38 pm

i am dying to try this powder…im trying to hold out until i finish my estee lauder double wear powder 🙁 …..ur skin looks amazing 🙂 xo

  27. 17th July 2011 / 8:59 pm

I am currently using elf's HD powder which is great, and there's an absolute tonne of it so won't get to try the MSF any time soon! 🙁 though may buy one when I'm on hols on USA as it'll be cheaper! x

  28. 18th July 2011 / 12:35 am

I find that my skin is too oily for MSFN, but I agree that if it works for your skin type, it's an amazing powder! I absolutely love your eye makeup and blush too, Milly 🙂 You look fab!

  29. 18th July 2011 / 5:33 am

You are gorgeous, and that foundation looks awesome on you! 🙂

I adore this powder too! Have made my way through two and will re-purchase over and over. No other powder manages to mattify, without being flat (and also not being shimmery) Love it!

  31. 18th July 2011 / 3:36 pm

Yes I re-purchase this again and again and again, it's one of the few things I do! Nothing beats it.

  32. 18th July 2011 / 6:30 pm

Your skin is amazing! Not sure if that's your actual skin or your makeup skills but I have serious face envy haha!

I need to try some Mac when I have some money!!

    Lois xx

  33. 18th July 2011 / 8:25 pm

I think I am going to have to buy an MSF now! I buy the shimmery MSFs, but have never bought the ones that can be used as foundations.

I had an allergic reaction to a Physician's Formula powder that is suppose to do the same thing as an MSF. I had the same experience with Bare Minerals.

I am going to bit the bullet and buy an MSF…thanks for the post!

    -Candice 🙂

thank you all for the great comments girls.

@kristianna – thank you. trust me, my skin isn't flawless but it is awful either. I use Liz Earle skincare a lot, which works well with my skin. I also really endorse drinking lots of water and exercise. seems to keep my skin clear.

@musicndaydreams – ha thank you. trust me, it is my real skin, obv with my EL double wear foundation on and my msfn powder.

    thank you all x
