Transforming our Toddler’s Bedroom

Over the past few weeks I have ben busy rejigging, rearranging and redecorating one of our bedrooms to accommodate Florence’s great move into her very own big girl’s bed. With the arrival of baby number two just a few months away we wanted to give Florence time to settle in a new space and hoped she would happily vacate the cot ready for her brother or sister. Even though the new baby will of course be in our room from the beginning it was important to have the nursery free for those 2am (read: 3am, 4am, 5.30am!) nappy and outfit changes.

I love a good project so have really enjoyed reshaping our spare room into her own little space and also reshuffling my beauty corner around to make it a little more streamline and organised (as organised as it can be when you have 257 lipsticks!!) Once all the furniture was in place I noticed how bare the walls appeared. It is a big room with high ceilings and the blank spaces were calling out for some homely pictures so I headed online to Desenio who literally have every type of wall art you can ever wish for, perfectly suited to any room, space, taste and style. I love the fact they also sell the frames online too so you can easily select the correct sized frame to fit your poster and you are good to go! All their prints are categorised so I headed to the Kids Posters section and was a little overwhelmed for choice. I adore the selection I picked and think they go perfectly with the colour scheme and style of her room; I am particularly fond of the pair of the prints hanging (very securely) above her bed and once they were all in place, they instantly transformed the room into a warm, inviting corner of the house. As Florence was moving from a little, cosy nursery with her familiar cot and surroundings to a new room and new bed, I was really keen to try and make her bedroom as comforting and appealing as possible so she would feel settled. I think with all her soft furnishings and familiar toys, we achieved that.

For my makeup corner I opted for a large floral print above my Ikea drawers and then two smaller beauty-related illustrations to sit on my beauty table which I chose to frame in gold which ties in perfectly with large hanging mirror and my cherished collection of golden YSL lipsticks!

I am so happy with how this space has turned out and feel we have transformed it from spacious spare room to a cheerful, cosy toddler room/mum’s makeup corner! If you fancy shopping some prints for your home then this code ‘millynaomi’ gives 25% off posters* between 12th – 14th December.
