I can’t quite believe that in a few weeks I will be half way through this pregnancy. It is definitely true when they say the weeks go by so much quicker the second…third…fourth time around! Some days I genuinely forget I’m pregnant and it isn’t until I finally sit down in the evening do I take stock and remember this incredible thing that is happening inside me.
So this week I am nesting a sweet potato and baby Wilson is around 5.5inches long and weighs about 7oz. Arms and legs are flexing left, right and centre which might explain the tiny pokes and prods I have started to feel this week, albeit very sporadically. Since my last update I had my 16 week midwife appointment and heard the baby’s heartbeat for the first time which is such a lovely, emotional sensation. I recorded it again on my phone, like I did with Florence, and often play it back to myself and smile. It sounds like a herd of galloping horses!
I feel the bump is well and truly popping now and normal clothes, well trousers and skirts, are feeling a little uncomfortable. Flouncy dresses and oversized jumpers are perfect but I definitely now need to invest in some maternity leggings, jeans and tights. I am definitely showing earlier than with Florence.
Generally I am feeling ok and most days, like I said, I don’t really register I am pregnant at all. But then I do something like bend over Florence’s cot or take the stairs two at a time and then I remember I can’t quite do everything as quickly and nimbly as I use to. Energy levels are still high and I feel motivated to get out running and exercising as much as time allows with a toddler and a husband working shifts.
I can’t say I have any current food cravings or aversions and am enjoying a wide variety of foods that I have always loved. I have definitely noticed though that my appetite isn’t what it use to be and I can’t physically eat large portions any more so survive on lots of little snacks and light bits throughout the day including giant green smoothies that Florence and I share most days to keep my iron levels on track.
I think that is it for now. I have my 20 week anomaly scan in a few weeks time which of course is an apprehensive time but something I am looking forward to as I get to see the little one on screen again and check everything is alright with myself and bump. As always, any questions you want me to answer in my upcoming bump updates, then please leave me a comment below.
