The Big Family Switch Up

Earlier this month Indesit launched a really interesting campaign – the Big Family Switch Up – which is challenging families to switch roles within the household for seven days. Why I hear you ask? Well the end goal is to become a family that #DoItTogether because a family that work well together with equal responsibilities will achieve better results and everything becomes that little bit easier. This campaign is giving families the opportunity to swap roles, share out chores and challenge the gender stereotypes that more often than not can dictate who takes out the bins and who prepares the tea.

The first episode of the Big Family Switch Up is really revealing and so interesting to see what happens when you flip those gender stereotypes on their head! As the following episodes are released you will see families from UK, France, Italy and Russia switch up their usual roles within the household and shake up the norm. I think this is great and something all families could give a go. Whether it is just swapping your weekly chores or helping each other out so one person isn’t just doing it all, it can only have a positive effect on the family unit. The idea of a switched up family is a beneficial way of assessing how your family works together, who does what and how changing this around might actually result it a happier cohesion. I’m not saying you’re going to be skipping to take the bins out or dancing around doing the dishes, but mixing it up or even sharing the jobs can make routine chores a little more…fun?!

How switched up do you think your family is? Enter into the social experiment yourselves and see just how switched up you really are by taking part in the survey here – I’ve done it so let me know if you take part too and if you are surprised by the results!

This is such a fun idea! I like the concept, although I’m not sure if we could do that here. When the boys are older it would be fun to get them to take on more jobs around the house and to help out more with things like stacking the dishwasher. They are just a little too small to grasp that plates are easily broken – as I sadly know from recent experience haha!

Hope you are having a great start to the week! I just published my first eBook so the week is starting brilliantly for me! 🙂
