I find it hard to believe that it has been nearly two years since Miu Miu launched their first ever fragrance, simply named Miu Miu Eau de Parfum. It was a fun, playful scent and a much anticipated release from this fashion house. I was enamoured with this new perfume for two reasons; it gave us a unique, gorgeous scent and it also gave us Truman, a black and white cat that featured in the brand’s advertising campaign.
And guess what, the cat is back!! Two years on Miu Miu have launched their second fragrance and it is basically Spring…in a bottle. Say hello to Miu Miu L’Eau Bleue. It is floral, fresh and sparkling – a lighter take on the original, signature scent. The fragrance embodies the start of Spring and the sense of fresh beginnings and new arrivals. Picture glistening dew of green foliage, the dawn air breezing through an open window, the sun on your face, walking barefoot on damp grass. The top notes of this scent are Lily of the Valley twisted with honeysuckle giving you a sunny, floral, feminine tone. The delicacy of this scent is slightly toughened by an earthy, spicy addition of Akigalawood – the same ingredient that featured in the original EDP and certainly gives it a recognisable scent.
The bottle has remained true to its predecessor with its matelassé design but just like the new scent, which has been lightened, the bottle is clearer and beautifully glistening. It is also topped with a pretty sherbet-lemon pastel disc maintaining the brand’s playful, colourful nature. This is a lovely perfume for all year round, but particularly now as we are feeling brighter and sunnier in ourselves. I adore the story behind the Miu Miu fragrance family so far and look forward to seeing what the brand has to offer next time around.
