Bourjois always do bronzers really well! I mean, that Delice de Poudre (aka the Chocolate Bronzer!) is always in my makeup stash and is such a budget-friendly option to get some seriously gorgeous, sun kissed skin. This Summer, Bourjois have launched a range of bronzy, beautiful, glowy products to help give your complexion a little boost and fake a two week holiday in the sun when really we have been sitting here in dreary England.
There are a couple of standout products from the brand’s Catch the Sun Solar Look collection which I look forward to sharing with you shortly but I wanted to quickly focus on one of the items that sadly left me in the shade and feeling far from drenched in the sunshine. I had really high hopes for the Contouring Illusion Bronzer & Highlighter and I adore the nautical twist on the outer packaging and embossed into the powder. I love a good contouring/sculpting kit and thought this could be a little gem – but sadly it was not meant to be.
The bronzer shade is lovely if you are just after an all over, sweep and go type powder that will warm up your face, but as a contour shade it is far to warm toned and a little shimmery. The powder itself is nice to use – easy to blend and super pigmented. The highlighter section doesn’t deliver an enviable glow to the skin and I found it a little too chalky, glittery and quite hard to see on the skin. I tried to do swatches of it for this post but it was so hard to pick up. It is a warm, champagne tone with noticeable sparkle. I have managed to make this product work by swirling all the powder together and just lightly dusting it over my face to add a subtle warmth to my makeup but steering clear of any chiselling and contouring!
My best advice would be to skip this product from the new collection and go for their Mat Illusion Bronzing Powder and the New Sculpt Bronze Highlighter to add dewiness and illumination to the skin. They are the perfect pairing for I’m-just-back-from-my-holidays skin!
