Clarins Face Contouring Palette

Contouring is still big news and it seems this technique to chisel, contour and sculpt our features will continue into 2017 as Clarins prepare to launch their first contouring palette in the New Year. This limited edition face contouring palette comes complete with a curved brush and is presented in Clarins recognisable luxe golden packaging.

Within the sleek gold palette sits three complementary shades that have been tailored to suit all skin tones and will deliver a highlight, a bronzed depth and a pop of colour all from one accessible product. The powders have been enriched with plant extracts to nourish the skin and means they glide on and blend in beautifully. They are soft and subtle but easy to build up if you want a more intense colour – but I believe soft and subtle is the way to go when it comes to contouring! The first shade is a highlighting powder which can be used to highlight and add luminosity to those areas of the face that would naturally radiant lightness. The handy card enclosed with this palette is a great visual to help you decide where to pop each colour. The highlighter works best swept lightly across the forehead, under the brow bones, top of the cheeks and down the bridge of your nose.

The second shade is your contour shade which allows you to hollow, sculpt, reshape and fake those cheekbones. The curved brush really helps apply a thin, precise line along the hollow section of your cheeks and across the top of your forehead. Finally the blush shade finishes off your base. It is a very neutral colour but just adds a healthy glow and warmth to your cheeks. I love that you have everything you need to contour and colour in this one palette and the shades seem to be very wearable for all skin tones. The contour shade isn’t too warm which I like so it acts more like a shadow to sculpt rather than a bronzer to warm your complexion. I found it best to apply all three shades, much like the visual, to my face with the curved brush but then I used a lighter, fluffier brush to buff all the colours out and blur the shades together to create a very natural finish.

This palette is released on 8th January 2017 so not long to wait! Maybe a post-Christmas-blues present to yourself??

This looks so good! I love contouring for photograhy makeup. But I’m also too lazy to do it for everyday looks. Anyway, need to check this 🙂
