Sleep? Oh yes, I vaguely remember what this is! I jest but with a there months old now it would be fair to say that the last 12 weeks has featured a lot less sleep than I would care to remember. The thing is, once your baby is down and you hit the sheets, the last thing you want to do is waste valuable sleeping time tossing and turning and trying to get to sleep. I have always been a good sleeper – I could sleep anywhere! On car journeys, in the middle of an afternoon film fest and I was always the first one dozing off at my friends’ sleepover parties. But I think since having a little one my senses have heightened, I hear every noise and I find it hard to completely switch off and close my eyes. I think deep down I would feel better just lying awake and watching Florence sleep but we all know that would lead to a very grouchy, tired mum in the morning.

So to give my body and mind a little help to relax and unwind and fall asleep quicker in the evenings I have been using a couple of sleep sprays to help me drift off into sweet dreams. The L’Occitane Relaxing Pillow Mist (£14) is a 100% natural scent which can be sprayed on your pillow or just misted around your bedroom to promote an air of relaxation and well-being. It contains essential oils of lavender, bergamot, mandarin, sweet orange and geranium which all combined create a soothing sensation to help induce a peaceful night’s sleep.

The This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray (£16) will fragrance your bed and calm your nerves. It is infused with essential oils of lavender, vetivert and wild chamomile to provide a natural remedy and instant relief for temporary insomnia. The scent is incredible and as soon as my head hits the pillow I can smell the familiar aroma and instantly I feel like my thoughts and worries are soothed and my body begins to relax. It is really lovely and I am sure it helps shave a few precious minutes off my awake time so I can cram in some extra Zzzz before the baby awakes!
