Last week I was invited to Selfridges in London to celebrate the launch of NARS new range of Pure Matte lipsticks, which is the newest collection to the NARS lip category.
We were treated to slurp a mini bottle of champers or Evian (with a handy straw) whilst we had our consultation with one of the NARS makeup artists, who suggested the best colour lipstick to suit our colouring and preference.
In the words of NARS themselves, “This innovative, matte lipstick has intense, stay-true colour so lips look lush and vibrant. This exquisitely blended formula strikes the perfect harmony between optimal colour, an ultra-matte finish and a hydrating lip treatment.”
There are 6 shades in the range, varying from your nude to your show-stopping red.
At first perusal I was unsure if I liked any of the colours. There definitely wasn’t a “me” shade jumping out at me, but the MUA matched me with ‘Bangkok’ described as a Soft Rose, and I definitely liked it once it was applied to my lips.
I would describe it as a mature dusky-pinky, and I am pleased that my boundaries were stretched, and I have momentarily navigated away from my nudes and baby pinks.
Despite the lipsticks being matte, I do not find them drying, as I had initially thought they may be. I prepped my lips with a smidgen of vaseline and that definitely prevented the lipstick becoming too drying during the day.
The colour is definitely long-wearing and stays intensively on your lips for an impressive length of time.
NARS state that the formulation also offers lip treatment properties due to its ingredients of Vitamin E, Acai oil and wild mango butter. The lipstick is rich and creamy and does feel like a real treat on your lips.
The Pure Matte lipsticks are £18 and are available now.
Let me know what you think my fellow lippie lovers, and if you are going to dabbling in any of them?
I am already eyeing up Vesuvio, which is the ‘full-bodied red’ in the press picture above.
